Getting married requires a lot of planning and attention to detail. Unlike a cake, music or flower arrangements, you can’t taste, hear or smell your wedding photos. You won’t have a clue what to expect until after the pictures arrive.
By taking the time to research potential photographers, you can make sure your photos come out looking amazing. Spend some time going through the steps below to get memories of a lifetime.
You can’t simply look at a Long Island Wedding Photographer and determine who to pick. If the price is right, you like the photos you see on their site and they are available for your big day, you are heading in the right direction. In the event the photographer is booked already, you can always ask if they have an associate who might be available for your event. Meet with anywhere from 3-5 photographers in person to see if your personalities gel before you make a final decision.
Check out the Wedding Albums
Don’t choose the photographer based entirely on their photo gallery alone. Often times, a photographer will give you a portfolio of their best work from different weddings to give you an overview. Because of that, you aren’t going to get an accurate overview of what they have to offer you. Ask the photographer for a couple different galleries to give you a more accurate depiction of what they can do for your big day. If you are planning on having your wedding outdoors, ask to see a gallery of a wedding they shot outdoors.
Personalities Should Gel
Even though you might not think it is important, you should be able to get along with your photographer. Being in the same page is important. Do you share the same vision? Are they kind and considerate of what you have to say? If you hope to get the absolute best wedding photos, you want to go with a photographer that understands how to create amazing photos every step of the way. Remember, this individual will be following you wherever you go, so you want someone that isn’t off-putting. The photographer should be one who seeks out all of the precious moments of your big day. They should ask questions and listen to what you have to say.
Compare Their Packages
The only way to get an exact price for your wedding photos is to know what you want, the number of albums you want to purchase and the location of where your photographer is coming from. Ask for a general range to give you some sort of baseline package to go by. Find out what they put in their standard package, versus what comes in an extended package. The photographer should be with your wedding party throughout the entire day. The minute you start getting ready, they should be there. On average, a photographer is with you for 6-12 hours.
Take your time when choosing a photographer. This isn’t a decision you should rush into. You only get one shot at getting beautiful photos, so you want to make sure it is done right.
