If you’re willing to travel and/or hike to the right places, risk injury to both your equipment and yourself and, of course, sometimes stay awake the whole night, landscape photography can be very rewarding.

- The American Southwest
With places like the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Sedona, Horseshoe Bend, and Monument Valley, the American Southwest is as such an amazing destination for both vacations and photography, especially for people who enjoy warm weather and amazing landscapes.
- Death Valley
Death Valley is the driest and the hottest of all National Parks in the U.S. However, the scenery is incredible. With sand dunes, salt-flats, badlands, canyons, valleys, mountains, and the mysterious moving rocks at The Racetrack, you will stand amazed with the number of options to photograph.
For its latitude, the place has somewhat mild temperatures, relatively untouched landscapes, and a small population. Iceland is a perfect environment for taking wonderful photos. You won’t have to go far to find waterfalls, open spaces, rivers, mountains, and other breathtaking views.
- Assiniboine Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada
This one is on the edge of Banff National Park. Its only access is by backcountry trails, so it must be good. Prepare to be amazed with Assiniboine’s mountain peaks, lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, tons of wildlife, canyons and plenty other gorgeous landscape.
- White Sands National Monument
Have you ever seen sand dunes composed of gypsum crystals? You haven’t? Well, prepare to do so! However, this location isn’t one of those “I’ll go and see how it goes”. You have to plan your shoot precisely as this place is located near a missile range which means it can be closed any time they are testing.
Behind Antartica, this is the second largest desert in the world. To find some amazing landscapes to shoot, travel to areas of Chad, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger, Tunisia, Sudan or the Western Sahara. Believe it or not, but the sand dunes here can reach incredible heights of over 500 feet! Amazing, right?
- New England
New England covers six states and it is located in the Northeastern corner of the United States. Maine, Autumn in New England should be your reason to book a trip. You will be bowled over by the beauty that the Fall colors bring to these areas.
- Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flat. At times when this area is covered with water, it’s also the world’s largest mirror. While it’s dry, the beautiful cracks provide a perfect setting to snap a few great photos!
- Tasmania, Australia
Well, are you really surprised Australia is on the list? With its lush and exotic natural environment, the country makes for a wonderful photography experience. It is covered with National Parks and Reserves, making this natural environment an ideal place to find dense forests, rounded mountain ranges, and winding rivers. What more can a landscape photographer wish for!
Tibet is by far one of the most exotic locations you can visit. Its tall mountains (including the tallest, Mt. Everest) and the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon make it a real dream come true for a perfect shoot. Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon is one of the longest and deepest canyons in the world. This area is known for a very dry environment which makes the photography experience even better.
- Bali, Indonesia
Tall mountains and lovely beaches, what’s there not to like? Bali is a wonderful place for your touristic endeavors as well as all of your photography undertakes.
A much loved destination by lover of exotic parts of the world, Thailand will make your long trip worthwhile. From culture that still lives on the streets and shops and restaurants of this amazing country, to the landscapes that will blow your mind! People here are warm and welcoming and it wouldn’t harm to use some of their basic phrases to show your interest in their gorgeous country. They may even show you best locations to go and snap your photos!
